VOLTA REGION LAUNCH – MIGRANT MEDIA ACTION (MMAct) PROJECT

The Volta Regional launch of the MMAct Project brought together media practitioners, community leaders, youth representatives, the Ghana Immigration Service, the National Youth Authority, and other stakeholders to discuss migration realities and promote informed migration decision-making.

Discussions highlighted that many migration decisions are influenced by limited economic opportunities, peer pressure, and access to unverified information. Participants emphasized the need for communities to have access to credible migration information, practical livelihood alternatives, and balanced media reporting that goes beyond fear-based narratives.

Stakeholders also stressed the importance of fact-checking migration information, verifying travel opportunities through official institutions, and using community dialogue to help young people make informed choices.

Migration awareness should focus on informed choices, not fear alone.
